Who is eligible for help from Storehouse?

If a family is living within a 12km radius of Thornleigh and facing any crisis that significantly affects their financial and/or emotional capacity to care for their 0-12 year old children, they may be eligible.

This may include financial crisis, mental health breakdown, abuse, disability or other similarly acute situations.

Families get connected to The Storehouse through approved referral partners already working in the community. These include, among others, local GP’s, counsellors, school principals, early childhood workers and community service representatives with whom The Storehouse has met.

Before making an appointment to visit The Storehouse, families must collect, and complete, a signed referral form from one of these partners.

What can I expect?

We look forward to warmly welcoming families to The Storehouse. Our centre is equipped with tea and coffee facilities, a small, indoor play space with children’s toys and books; resources and information on other support services available in the community and a place for you to sit comfortably as your children try on their clothes in the change room provided.

You will not be asked personal questions about your situation. However, you are welcome to ask for prayer or information on additional support services at any time (these will not be offered unprompted).

Your family will be served by 2-3 volunteers at your appointment. It will be a relaxed, friendly experience as your children receive their new clothes with a smile.

Each child will receive two new outfits per visit and one family repeat visit card for two more visits.
